The training program organized by the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project for the selected volunteers of the ‘Shaurya’ Sri Dharmasthala Disaster Management Committee on the methods of saving those in distress through swimming and drowning was successfully completed.
The training was held at the Varanasi Organic Farm Adyanadka near Vittal from 07.01.2026 and concluded on 13.01.2026. The training program was organized by FCOA (Freediving Coaches Of Asia), an international swimming and safe diving training organization.
Free-diving is the practice of underwater diving. In this, the diver has to hold his breath and dive underwater. Divers have to hold their breath until they surface again. And these breath-holding dives are done without any scuba equipment.
FCOA founders Mr. Jeroen Elout from Holland, Anjali from New York, Jacob Jose from Kottayam, Kerala and the team conducted special training for the volunteers of the bravery team.
The trainers trained the volunteers in long-term floating without fatigue on the surface of the water, rescuing unconscious people from drowning, safe diving in deep water, descending from a tall building alone with the help of a rope, marking and searching for submerged objects, returning safely in an unknown place or forest with the help of a compass, making various knots in the rope and swimming 200 meters without fatigue without rest.
Shri Anil Kumar S.S., Chief Executive Officer of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, had allowed the volunteers to get trained. 6 people from Belthangady Taluk who were interested in becoming proficient in swimming were identified and the volunteers received training under the guidance of Shri Vivek. V. Paysa, Director of Janajagruti Regional Department.
Belthangady ‘Shaurya’ Committee Master Avinash Bhide, volunteers Sachin Bhide, Jayaram Nada, Anil P.A. Satish Neria, Ramesh Byrakatta have completed the training. FCOA has honored the volunteers who successfully completed the training with certificates.
